What is an Auto Bottom Box?

The auto bottom box, also known as auto lock bottom box and crash bottom box, is usually made of 250-350 gsm white or gray cardboard that is die-cut, folded, and glued.

Compared with the popular tuck end & snap lock bottom box, the auto bottom box is easy and fast to assemble, its bottom automatically locks after gently unfolding the blank.

Because of its pre-glued bottom, it can pack heavier products than the tuck end & 123 bottom box.

Auto Bottom Box Erector

Auto bottom box erector is a machine that replaces the manual erection of crash bottom box blank into auto lock bottom box.

Working Principle

The 3 steps below clearly reflect the working principle of the auto lock bottom box erector:

1. The suction cups absorb the automatic bottom box blank one by one;
2. The box assembly unit frames the carton blank and locks the bottom;
3. The Erector outputs the bottom-sealed, fully erected, open-top crash bottom box to the outfeed conveyor.

Types of Crash Bottom Box Erector

There are two types of crash bottom box erectors for your choice:

• Continuous Motion (40-60 PPM)
• Intermittent Motion (20-30 PPM)

Continuous Motion (40-60 PPM)

As shown in the video below, a continuous crash bottom box erector works fast, it can erect max. 60 pcs auto bottom boxes in one minute.

A suction cup continuously sucks the auto bottom box blanks from the blank magazine one by one, and erects the auto lock bottom box during the process of placing it between the lug chains of the conveyor.

Since its speed is fast, and many customers do not require high speed for this type of machine, thus it’s not as attractive as the intermittent one.

Intermittent Motion (20-30 PPM)

Compared to the continuous auto bottom erector machine, the intermittent machine operates at half the speed of the continuous one.

But it is more popular among potential customers, because customers who purchase box erectors usually pack cartons manually, which can’t reach high speed.
